Q:

A friend has a six yr old daughter, who is diagnosed with ptergium in both eyes. It is giving her a lot of trouble. My friend was told $6000, and insurance won't cover. He doesn't have $ and is trying to raise it. Is this normal?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

You can read about Pterygium here (cut and paste): https://www.empowher.com/eyes-vision/content/pterygium-benign-growth-eye

As to the cost of treatment - we cannot answer that as all hospitals and doctors have their own price tags on surgery. Your friend will have to do his research. He could also set up a crowd funding page or hold a fundraiser.
Best,
Susna
