Frequent bloody noses - why?

This is a nose bleed preventative remedy; after 20 years of nosebleeds, I finally have them under control. If you frequent nosebleeds, try this trick.

Purchase a small 3” convex compact mirror that has 15 x magnification and a high intensity pen light. As needed ( I do this every morning) look into your nose with the flashlight, and see if there are dry scabs which make break away to cause a bleed; If scabs occur, drink an 18 ounce glass of water with one tablet of NUUN ACTIVE and about 1 hour later the scabs will be significantly smaller if not completely gone! Gatorade can work too but, NUUN has no sugar. NUUN and Gatorade both have the same amounts of salt, potassium, magnesium which give you electrolytes and somehow able to hydrate better than plain water. It has been over 2 years, and not a single nose bleed.

Frequent bloody noses can be anything from nose irritation, nose polyps to more serious signs of a blood disorder. The "treatments" and prevention, therefore, can range anywhere from adding a humidifier to the room (to add moisture in the air, and hopefully alleviate nose irritation) to other treatments for polyps. Does your son have any other symptoms associated with the nose bleeds? Headaches? Any trauma or injury to the nose? Any medications?

I would not worry yourself, but would encourage you to take your son to his pediatrician to rule out the serious stuff.

According to the Mayo Clinic, nose bleeds are normal (if they last for more than 20 minutes, seek medical advice).
