Flu like symptoms

Two nights ago I received oral sex from and was fingered by a man (I am female). There was no genital to genital contact. We only made out as well, but that was before he went down on me. Now I am having flu like symptoms with a low grade fever, slight scratchy throat and an earache. I am wondering if this sexual encounter would lead to anything to cause me to have these symptoms? Is it my body trying to fight an infection? I am really scared and haven't been sleeping or eating well. I am terrified of HPV, primarily, because the man I was with was cleared of all other STD's.

Hello, and thank you for sharing your question.

STD's can cause fever and flu-like symptoms.  However it is impossible to know if an STD is the cause unless you are tested for STD's.  So I suggest that you get tested right away.

If the tests are negative treat your symptoms is you would for any flu or fever.  Tylenol and Ibuprofen are a good start.  Or you can always get a stronger prescription from your doctor.
