I have dry scaly skin in my legs. I have been applying moisturiser daily but it just gives a temporary remedy (just for a few hours) and the skin becomes dry again. It looks odd when I wear my skirts.. Could you please let me know if there is any medicine or cream which will cure it?

Try Emu Oil. I discovered this when my mother was dying of cancer. Her skin became thin and dry and would actually rip to the touch. I began using Emu Oil on her skin twice daily and within a week there was a marked improvement. At the end of one month her skin was no longer tearing nor dry.
I became such a convert that I buy cases of Emu Oil each year and pass it out when I meet someone with a skin problem. Without exception every one has commented on the improvement from this simple oil.
There is also a lotion with Emu Oil as a main ingredient that is good for the face and 'touch up' during the dry winter months. Don't bother with the super expensive stuff sold on TV, find a local supplier or if you can't let me know and I'll give you the supplier that I buy from (each year they have a booth at the State Fair and I stock up). I sure hope it helps you as it has everyone in my family!

Hi,
I do not suffer from eczema. But the skin just looks cracked (as if the skin is stretched a lot). I'm 25 years old and this skin makes me look aged. I have been applying moisturizers containing Vitamin E. My doctor advised me to take Evion capsules. But its of no use. In summer, the skin looks much better but in winter its very worse.

I'll try using the suggested products and let u know the result.

Hi,
This is a very popular question, as the winter-time can exacerbate dry skin symptoms.

Many women have discussed their solutions to dry skin: EmpowHER: Dry Skin products or prevention tips?. Discussions have included using lotion containing Shea Butter works, while other women provided detail instructions on how to help prevent dry skin (avoid hot showers, pat dry with towel after shower, apply lotion to slightly damp skin within 2 minutes after shower, etc.).

Depending on what type of dry skin you have (assuming you do not have eczema or other skin condition), it can also help to lather on a rich lotion in the evening, and wrap the area with plastic wrap (the same you use for food!), and wrap a towel around the plastic wrap, for 5-10 minutes. There are many products at the grocery store that work well for this, including Eucerin, Vaseline and Aquafor (the products made for eczema work well for dry skin).

Keep applying lotion throughout the day, make sure your legs are covered in the wintertime, especially on cold or windy days (they can become more dry and chapped).

Lastly, some women love to take oatmeal baths or use olive oil on dry skin...the products do not need to be expensive to provide excellent conditioning!

Does this information help? I'm curious why you asked about medication, as it leads me to believe you may have a serious condition that needs to be checked out by a dermatologist?
