Does balsamic vinegar cut the fat in foods?

I was out with friends this weekend and they were putting balsamic vinegar on their pizza. They said that it helped cut the fat during the digestion process. Does anyone know if this actually works? If so, why?

I'm not so sure about balsamic vinegar containing pepsin. Pepsin is one of the three enzymes in gastric acids, and is the protein digesting enzyme that reacts well in an acid environment.

However, adding more acidity in your foods does not improve, but can actually impede, the digestive process by causing an acidic imbalance.

Balsamic vinegar contains alpha linolenic acid, an essential omega-3 fatty acid, associated with reduced risk of heart disease.

Vinegar is high in acetic acid (but acetic acid is not vinegar) and can help your body absorb essential minerals from the foods you eat.

"...the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), a division of the U.S. government's National Institutes of Health that was created specifically to investigate natural or unconventional therapies that hold promise, has not published any studies about vinegar, despite the fact that there has been renewed interest in vinegar's healing benefits recently."
