does anyone have information on the use of Forteo in people who have a fused spine?

Yes, I too am interested in the use of Forteo on someone who has a fused spine from having had scoliosis. I have had osteoporosis for the last 7 years and have been using Actonel (plus calcium and Vitimin D). Last month I was told that there is a serious bone loss in the the spinal area. The physician recommended stopping Actonel and going on Forteo for 1-1/2 to 2 years.
I haven't decided yet what to do. Part of my puzzlement is that my spine is totally fused from scoliosis treatment in the 1940s. I am now 71 yrs.
We are trying to make a decision and would appreciate any input.

Can you tell us more about your condition, what treatment(s) you have already used, and what your prognosis is? What symptoms are you currently experiencing, and what are you hoping to gain from treatment?

It seems that there are quite a few side effects (both short-term and potentially long-term), and I'm wondering what you have already read about Forteo (or teriparatide), so that we do not provide duplicate information. Forteo is usually used in conjunction with other treatments (depending on condition), and it would be helpful to learn what other treatments you are currently undergoing.
