Powerful Anti-aging natural products: Resveratrol & Acai as Seen on 60 Minutes and Barbara Walters report!

You already know about the heart-healthy effects of red wine, but new studies at Harvard Medical School and the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Biology have found that Resveratrol, a natural compound found in the skin of red grapes and hence in red wine, may radically reduce the risk not only of heart disease but also age related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s disease. It might also counter the effects of a high-fat diet and even prolong life.

Resvertatrol, a nutrient found in red wine, keeps estrogen from causing breast cancer in test-tube studies. Resveratrol increases production of an enzyme that destroys dangerous estrogen metabolites.

Resveratrol has the ability to prevent the first step that occurs when estrogen starts the process that lead to cancer. Scientists believe that this could stop the whol progression that leads to breast cancer down the road. This is dramatic because it was able to be done with fairly low concentrations of Resveratrol.

University of Florida study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry on Jan 12. 2006 found that Acai berries triggered a self-destruct response in up to 86 percent of leukemia cells tested in vitro. In the current UF study, six different chemical extracts were made from Acai fruit pulp, and each extract was prepared in seven concentrations. Four of the extracts, were shown to kill significant numbers of leukemia cells when applied for 24 hours. Depending on the extract and concentration, anywhere from about 35 percent to 86 percent of the cells died.

Too good to be true? What do you think?

i think reservatrol has proved to be beneficial to human health, but i dont think drinking wine will do much good, I read that one would need to drink something like 10 bottles of wine a day to get the amount of resveratrol potency that was tested on the rats, that's why some people take pills like resveratrol, but a glass of wine a day can't hurt, and certainly tastes good!

Recently, Dr. Nancy Snyderman on the Today Show warned women to drink 3 glasses of wine per week or less because of the side effects to excessive alcohol. Apparently women can not metabolize alcohol like men can, and thus excessive alcohol is more damaging to women.

To get the full benefits of resveratrol, and the other compounds in wine, look for a resveratrol supplement that contains compounds like OPC's, green tea and Pycnogenol. But don't stop there, we're talking antioxidants so make sure you find one whose servings are individually sealed like in foil packets, or blister paks.

You wouldn't want your antioxidants to diffuse the free radicals in the before getting to your digestive system. You might as well be consuming air.

What strikes me is that acai berries have been around for a long time, but we on the "northerly side" of the rainforest are only now beginning to learn their healthful benefits.

I wonder what the cancer rate was among ancient Romans, who loved their wine and spread the vitis vinifera (common grape vine) across their "modern world."

We've polluted ourselves so much with our chemical preservatives, fertilizers, et cetera that we're finding hope in old world botanicals and such. Amazing!

Virginia, this is exceptionally good news considering I love to drink a glass of red wine in the evening!

I love the fact that science seems to be right on the edge of lots of breakthroughs regarding natural foods and substances and how they interact later in the body with enzymes, hormones and our genes. Though I wish it wasn't so complicated, it seems like there's an awful lot for us to keep up with.

Yeah, It does sound too good to be true, But I will be doing my own research and keep on drinking red wine to see what happens.

Thank You For That Information Coach Virginia, I Will Be Sharing That With My Sister And My Mother.
