I want my Mirena out badly! I've had it for about a year, after my first baby, and I've suffered since. I thought maybe I had post party's depression but I wasn't depressed in the months after my baby was born. Once the IUD was in for a Few weeks I had depression, anxiety, dizziness and exhaustion. Also extreme acid reflux to the point I sometimes have spells of vomiting bile and can't eat. I also have this constant "buzzing" tingling like feeling all over my body and frequent headaches and eye twitching. Never had these problems before. Sometimes out of nowhere I get so exhausted I. Red to lie down for. Few minutes. My body even smells different...I never had body odour before but now I have to put on deo multiple times a day and smell weird when I sweat. It's gross. I'm tired of this and it's coming out next week.

I am freaking out over my weird symptoms. I have the liletta, but it's practically the same as Mirena per my research. I honestly feel like I have a brain tumor or something. Do you feel a heaviness in your head that leaves you in a fog almost? It's constant for me and so frightening. Honestly can hardly do my job at this point! Got IUD inserted about 7 months ago after having my first baby. Think it could be related? I'm so scared!

Me too! I've actually fainted. Pain in the left side of my head, blacked out, went numb and tingly all over and I was gone. Brain has felt heavy, squished and not right ever since. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to faint again. It's terrifying.

I got my IUD at the end of March, and ever since, I have been having multiple health issues. I figured it was normal, everyone has health problems from time to time, so I figured it was normal.
But when I saw a commercial about the IUD and some of the health issues it could cause, I realized that these symptoms weren't normal at all.
I mean, it's not normal to have a hard mass in your stomach that sends waves of pain, dizziness, nausea, and headaches through your body, is it?
I've been to the hospital to try to get it removed, but they wouldn't do it, I was on pregnancy Medicaid when I got it and feared that this problem would come about, and here we are with exactly that.
Any suggestions?
Because I'm honestly tired of feeling like crap 24/7 and want nothing more than to get it out.
Does anyone know of any clinics that will take it out for free?
Your comments are much appreciated.
With love,
Just another girl suffering from the IUD.

I got the Mirena 3 days ago (Dec 13) and wanted to share my short little story to see if anyone else had similar experiences with this IUD.

Getting it in honestly wasn't bad AT ALL. Some cramping and it was over. But, immediately after I was dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out. I stayed in the OBGYN office for a good 1.5 hours laying down and drinking juice until I felt okay enough to walk downstairs and get picked up.

Only for another day and a half did I have cramping, but I felt dizzy and nauseated ALL DAY!! It never went away and at night it got worse making me not be able to sleep because the room was spinning and my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest. This morning, I woke up and got a sonogram and they said I shouldn't be feeling this way because the IUD was perfectly positioned and placed. Because of how terrible I was feeling, I still decided to get it out this morning. Let me tell you - as crazy as it sounds - I felt better within 1 minute of it coming out.

I've been taking lo lo estrin for 2 years prior to this with no problems. But, I had a similar reaction to a pill called Minastrin as I got super dizzy and almost passed out. I wonder if I am allergic to some type of hormone?

I've had the Mirena for 5 years and I just started having headaches and getting dizzy. I'm not sure what to do? I was thinking I'd get it replaced the first of the year.

Had my Mirena inserted 4 days ago. I have had no kids so the insertion was a bit uncomfortable. Had mild cramps on and off for 2 days but I feel great as of now. No bleeding and sex was good as usual

I had the Mirena inserted in Sept 2012. Previously I had been on the pill for many years however at the time of getting the Mirena I had been free of synthetic hormones for over a year. My periods were so regular I could predict them to the hour, bleeding was heavy(ish) but nothing that seemed out of the ordinary, slight stomach cramps but, again, nothing that worried me.

I got the mirena implanted due to my then boyfriend being "unable to use condoms"...that age old excuse. I wasn't about to put myself at his mercy and as I worked differing shifts felt the pill wouldn't suit.

So there I go...off to the docs....thinking THIS WILL CHANGE MY LIFE!!! Oh it did that, but not for the better. The insertion itself was horrific...I have no kids and my cervix had to be stretched. No one told me how horrifically painful this would be. I nearly fainted and had to be taken home by a taxi even though I stayed a 3 minute walk away. For the next 3 weeks I was doubled over in agony. Thats normal...i was told. I bled but not too much.

In the next 2 and a half years I suffered from brain fogginess, anxiety, constant discharge, a period every month (albeit lighter than I'd had), headaches, tearfulness, acne and I could feel it whenever I sneezed, sat down, stood up. Sex with my now boyfriend became painful for reasons I won't go into on here, so I decided to have it removed.

Before I could book an appointment with the Family Planning Clinic the coil decided to expell itself. I was sent to an out of hours gp who couldn't help and as such got an emergency appointment at an FPU clinic in Jan this year.

I decided there and then to let my cycle return to normal before deciding which contraception suited us both.

My periods were regular for 3 months slightly heavier and more painful. I then skipped a period in April. In the middle of May I had excruciating pain in my left side, doubled over in the space of 5 minutes, shaking, feeling sick. It passed after top grade cocodamol was taken and I thought...I'll keep an eye on that. I bled heavily a week after.

I had the same pain while at a function whereby my boyfriend had to carry me to our room. Again bled heavily the next day.

I have been back and forward to the doctors, had ultrasounds and blood tests. I have a slightly enlarged left ovary. This may not seem important to some however my mum had to have a radical hysterectomy aged 40 (5 years older that I am now) due to an undiagnosed ovarian cyst. Blood results show increased levels of a protein linked to ovarian cancer (and other conditions I might add) and my doc thinks that I could have endometriosis also. I have been rushed an appointment through for gynaecology.

As my mum had such a drastic result of her cyst I've always monitored and kept on top of any changes regarding my cycle, pain, etc. I am utterly convinced that the complications I am suffering are due to the mirena coil. I would never in a million years recommend this to my worst enemy as a for of contraception. Had any of these symptoms been made clear to me (even with the extensive research I'd done before having it inserted) I would never have gotten it. I only hope that the fact my doctor has been on the ball and things have moved swiftly that I can get a concrete diagnosis and treatment as soon as I can.

I have had the Marena for seven years. The first one was great I only experienced a bacteria infection. Two years after having my second Marena I had a terrible bacteria infection following that I got a UTI then immediately following that I got a yeast infection. I suffered six long weeks of sickness. I had abdominal pain throughout the entire sickness. I finally had a pelvic ultrasound and the doctor said I have a cyst on my ovaries. There's a possibility it could be endometriosis. I believe the Marena was the cause of the bacteria and yeast infections, UTI also my ovarian cyst.
