Hi'My name is susan,58. 4 Doctors have said i have cystocele, but none of them will do anything to help me.I suffer pain 24/7 can't find any relief.2 doctors have tried a Pessary but i still hurt. The last doctor i have seen tells me (she don''t see it)My bladder has dropped and i also have rectocele.I have had my colon checked, nothing was found but yet it is almost impossible to have a bowel movement. When i do i hurt for hours later. I have had 3 pessary's and all of them hurt me very bad.I have talked to other women and they say that cannot tell they even have one in. I have told my last doctor this and she put in another one, same thing pain. This has been going on since February and i'm no better at all.It has almost stopped life for me.I can't go anywhere because it hurts to sit.It is hurting my marriage because of no sex.My husband is a very good man and supports me but everything has it's limits.I have has ultra sounds done, xays, biopsy's and all come back normal. My doctor told me if the pessary stopped the pain she would do surgery,If it did not stop it she could still do the surgery but could not promise it would work.I don't know what to do,without the pessary i hurt, with it i hurt. The doctor also said some women just suffer with pelvic pain,I don't understand that. There has to be a reason for it. I hope someone can help me.
Thank you
Susan

Hi Howin674,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

Anterior prolapse (cystocele)also known as a prolapsed bladder happens when the connections between your pelvic floor muscles and ligaments can weaken over time. Treatment depends on how severe your anterior prolapse is. Options for treatment are, a vaginal pessary, estrogen therapy or surgery.

Has your doctor discussed estrogen therapy? Have you gotten a second opionion?

If you are not getting answers, options or relief, it's worth going to see another doctor. Perhaps you can look to see if there are any specialist in your area.

I hope this helps.
Be well,

If the specialist says it's not, then I would continue with her to see what road she pursues with your condition.
