Q:

Could I be pregnant?

Partner and I practice safe sex with condoms religiously. This past month we've been quite active, but none of the condoms broke, tore, slipped off or leaked. My period is 3 days late and I took two pregnancy tests around the noon as soon as I got home, they both tested negative. Is there still a chance that I might be pregnant?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

Consistent and correct condom use has a success rate of over 98% so it's very difficult to get pregnant while using them. Generally it's due to human error and there does not appear to have been any in your case. Since your tests are negative (tests are over 99% accurate as soon as a period is due) it's far more likely to you are delayed for other reasons. These include a slight change in your hormones, stress or just a simple change in body chemistry. Your period should be along soon.
Best,
Susan
