I JUST HEARD OF A FRIENDS MOM JUST DIAGNOSED WITH LUNG CANCER, FROM USING CERTAIN CLEANING PRODUCTS....I HAD NO IDEA. I GUESS I JUST NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT BEFORE, I KNOW WHEN I CLEAN MY BATHROOM I CANT STAND THE SMELL BUT I DIDN'T THINK OF THE EFFECT OF IT ON MY BODY. OF COURSE ON THE BOTTLES IT SAYS NOT TO INHALE BUT HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE...THE CLEANING ISLE AT THE SUPERMARKET SHOULD HAVE A BIG WARNING SIGN. DANGER TOXIC CHEMICALS..THAT CAN KILL OVER TIME!
I JUST HAVE GONE GREEN WITH A LINE OF CLEANING PRODUCT SAFER FOR MY HOME-MELALEUKA..I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER ESP. HAVING IT AROUND MY KIDS. IN ANYONE WANTS INFO ON THIS LINE YOU CAN E-MAIL @[email protected]
I wish i started using them sooner!

I wanted to comment on this since I have a lot of knowledge in the area of toxic exposures and health effects thereof.
There are several chemical agents that cause cancers, diseases, dermatitis and so forth. A great way to find out what the effects are to certain toxic substances is by this website http://hazmap.nlm.nih.gov/.
When it comes to any pulmonary disease, ammonia is the most dangerous substance that can be found in several cleaning products.
If you look at the ingredients of your cleaning supplies and check the effects of exposure to the toxic substance on the website I provided, you may take better care when choosing certain products.
Hope this helps.

I'm wondering how her doctor connected her lung cancer to the cleaning products. How do they know for sure that the products were the cause?
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Brendavan,
thanks for sharing! Was your friend using bleach, or something more (presumably) innocuous as the cleaning agent? Did your friend have any other risk factors (family history of lung cancer, for instance) or lifestyle factors (smoking, living in high-pollution area)?
