it might sound like a dumb question, but my mother had breast cancer over 7 years ago she's out of remission and now she jus found out her kidney is only working at 5 percent. She is currently on dialysis every two days. My younger sister wants to give her a kidney and the doctors said she couldn't because of her breast cancer. What are the complications?

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. You would have to talk to your Mothers doctor as to why she is not eligible for a kidney transplant. I know that your Mother is unable to provide a kidney due to her previous radiation treatments but your asking the opposite question. Please refer this question to her treating physician.

Good luck and keep us posted.
