Hello Anonymous,
May 15, 2018 - 6:34pmI am so glad that everything worked out well for you. Your description of your husband’s event, sounds eerily like what I went through when I was 26 in 2009. Luckily my loved ones (my mum and fiancé) were first aid trained when I went into cardiac arrest at the kitchen table. I had a 20 minute down time and the results are that I suffer from short term memory problems which are immensely frustrating.
I was put into therapeutic hypothermia also and an induced coma. When I awoke, I remembered being at home and drinking coffee the I wasn’t sure. Interestingly, after going to sleep one night on the ward, I couldn’t be woken, which was frightening for my family. When I eventually woke up, my short term memory was gone. I didn’t even know the year. I did however recognise my fiancé. After two months in hospital and intensive rehabilitation, I returned home. I am able to drive and do mostly everything I once did before, except welding, thanks to the Pacemaker. Small price to pay, for being alive. I have two beautiful girls now that I am married. I married my fiancé three months after leaving hospital. The day of my wedding, was extremely tiring. I wouldn’t do that again! Probably should have postponed it. But my wife and I are in love now more than ever. She saved my life.

April 6, 2018 changed my life completely. My mom woke up around 5:30am, went to the bathroom and completely passed out. She hit her head on the tub. She was out for about 15-20 minutes and she is in ICU on a vent with a severe brain injury, what the doctors call anoxic brain injury. We have been told by the ICU doctor that she will not recover and she would be on the vent for the rest of her life. We were also told we would get bored taking care of our loved one smh. About a day ago the neurologist informed us that she saw improvement in her brain activity from the second EEG that was taken. We pray daily over her and with her, speak life into her body, and talk to her as if she is awake because we strongly believe that she can hear us. We are firm believers in GOD that mom will make a full recovery and that she will be the miracle that everyone needs to see! This is a tough road but all we have right now is GOD and our faith. God is in full control of this situation and we know that he will wake her up soon and bring her out of this!

This is day 66 and my mom and made improvements from the first post I made April 12th. She has been moved to an LTAC. My mom opens her eyes, moves her fingers and feet, wiggles her toes from time to time and she moves her mouth as if she's responding to you. She's tracking very little. Lately her heart rate has been high (140-150 range) and it could possible be from the infection she has from the central line. From the first day until now she has come a long way! What the doctors say she wouldn't do she has been doing. She has been on cpap daily for 15-16 hours and doing well but the only issue is her heart rate which is causing her to breathing fast and a little hard. We are still praying daily and talking to her and letting her hear her music she listened to before all of this happened. Is there any advice that anyone could give who's had a loved one with a similar story? Anything would help.

My son has an anoxic brain injury.. he was in a coma for 8 weeks with doctors saying he was brain dead. Believe me you will not get “bored” taking care of someone you love. My son can walk ride a bike ,talk ,eat on his own. There are issues there but in time everything gets better. We have tried many therapies, some that work and some that don’t. I would be more than happy to recommend what worked for us. I believe it takes a lot of time to recover from such severe issues like these. So just breathe and try to be patient. You can try massaging her feet which stimulates areas of the brain and helps get the blood flowing and the music you have playing is great. I am in no way a doctor but these things helped with my son.. or at least it made me feel like I was trying.. I’ll pray for ya

I do the same thing with my fiancé, I talk to him like he is awake. They can hear.
I always believe God performs miracle. God is the best healer.
My fiancé is on his 12th day miraculous journey and we are hopeful and praying relentlessly for him to open his eyes. He had an asthma attack. I can't give all details for now, coz his situation is being investigated. He ended with brain hypoxia, the doctors said.
He is still with ventilator and asleep. He received dialysis. They feed him with food through his NG tube.
I am ready to embrace my Doug once he wakes up. We are very hopeful. We miss him.
I ask everyone, to please pray for his miraculous recovery.
Your story is very inspiring. I pray a lot to God.
God please have mercy on Doug that you will give him another chance in life to be with us here on earth.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Amen!! We’re almost 3 weeks in from when my husbands went into SCA. His heart stopped 6 times and he suffered anoxic brain injury in his occiptal and temporal lobes. We see a little bit of progress every few days. He still has a long road to recovery. My faith in god has never been stronger.
