I have not had a period in two years due to PCOS. I Started taking birthcontrol the same time i started taking metformin Which was Tuesday the 5th. The metformin was 500mg for ten days. On the next tuesday i stopped taking the birthcontrol. On Thursday the 14th I started spotting and friday I began taking 1000mg of Metformin. Today, Monday the 18th ,I started my full on period... Could it be the Metformin? And if so is it going to enhance my chances of concieving?

Hi Laurenc08,
Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. Are you under the care of a physician for your PCOS and wanting to get pregnant? They would be the best resource to hep you figure this out. I have heard of birth control used to help regulate a menstrual cycle, and I've heard of Metformin used to reduce any insulin resistance. Here is more information about PCOS treatment:

Here is another resource on the same topic: PCOS Treatment (womenshealth.gov)
Hope the information helps!
Good luck and let us know how you're doing.
