Q:

Can HPV go away on its own?

HPV

I was just diagnosed as being positive for HPV and will have a culposcopy in a few days. I've done some research and have read that once you have HPV that it will never go away. But I asked the nurse at my doctor's office and she said that in some cases, the HPV will just go away and your body will recover on its own. If that's the case, how often does that occur? What are my chances that my HPV will just eventually go away?

I had a miscarraige and after that I found out I had an abnormal papsmear secondary to HPV. Im 23 going in for a colposcopy now 2 months later. I am so scared. I am still taking my prenatal vitamins, excersising, sleeping well, eating healthy and trying to do everything to keep my immune system healthy so my immune system fights off the virus. My bf says it probably came out now because the pregnacy might have brought down my immune system, could that be true?

Hello well I think I might have a wart but I am not positive. I have only had one sexual partner my whole life. He had other partners before me though so for all I know he could have given me hpv. I have kept abstinent ever since my first sexual encounter which was about 2 years ago and just noticed this 'wart' type thing. I am under 18 should I still get tested for hpv?I need peace of mind but really don't want to make a doctors appointment with my doctor. What should I do? I no longer speak with him so I can't contact him and ask him what the chances are that he might have given me HPV. Any help please thank you

I just found out I had hpv...I don't know how I get it because I took the gardasil vaccine..she was telling me, that she never heard of it before...but she also told me that it could have formed on its own or its cancer..I'm getting tested again to make sure it's not cancer...and I'm like really scared..

im 23. have had hpv since i was 17. i have strain 6, which is genital warts. my husband and i both share the virus. i was given a topical cream to leave on the warts and they are never a problem for us. my dr also saw an abnormal growth of cells, ak cervical dysplasia, and had me come in for a colposcopy. after going in every 6 months until my cervical cells looked normal again, i go to the obgyn once a year for my annual and the hpv isnt even anything that affects my life. totally okay.

Hello, I'm 20 years old and I was just diagnosed with HPV this morning. It is good to hear opinions and other people that have this also. I am currently dating someone and I had to tell him that I tested positive for HPV. I explained to him what it was and that he could now be a carrier of it. I have an no symptoms or anything. My doctor said 95% of the time she saw that women at my age that were diagnosed with HPV that it would go away. When really i know it is a virus and those don't go away your body fights them off and they become a dead virus. so i remeber form my AP Biology class. quite a few of my friends have it. They said it has never affected them. So i can only hope for the best and be happy that i have a amazing and supportive boyfriend in my life. Thank You Everyone for the words of encouragement and hope <3 Peace

Sara
