Hi Anonymous,
Exactly how long ago did this happen? Are you still having any pain or difficulty breathing?
Before you resume playing, please speak with your primary care physician. If you were my child, and I have a son who played rugby, I would want you checked out before getting back in the game. Better to be safe than sorry:)
Regards,

Hello Anonymous,
This sounds like appendicitis. Call your physician now and get to the emergency room of your local hospital. Any further delay could lead to a ruptured appendix.

Last weekend we went tubing and I hit the water so hard it bruised my female part down below. I have been having a lot of sharp pains in my stomach and right lower side. The bruising is on the right side. I don't know if it could be serious or if I should try to let it pass.

I have a question. I recently was hit very hard on my right side of my stomach. Close to my bra line and on the middle of my belly button but on the side. It was a week ago when it happend and when it happend I ended up having a numb pinky toe on the same side that I was hit. Now a week later I am swollen and haven't made it to be seen. My toe is still numb and I dont know if I should ride this out or go be seen. I'm worried. Please answer back with any helpful information.

Hello Anonymous,
More details regarding the circumstances of your injury would help determine if the numbness in your right pinky toe was related to the blow to your abdomen.
Where is the swelling?
I suggest you call your physician's office and state that your symptoms are persisting one week after the injury. If you cannot be seen by your physician in the office you might be advised to go to the emergency room of your local hospital or a walk-in non-emergency clinic.
Wishing you well,
Maryann

I am very sorry to hear about your ordeal. The hard hit, which you received, would not have caused appendicitis.
Appendicitis is swelling (inflammation) of the appendix. The appendix is a small pouch attached to the beginning of your large intestine. It usually occurs when the appendix becomes blocked by feces, a foreign object, or rarely, a tumor.
The first symptom is often pain around your belly button. The pain may be minor at first, but it becomes more sharp and severe. Your appetite will be reduced and you may have nausea, vomiting, and a low fever. As the swelling in the appendix increases, the pain tends to move into your right lower abdomen.
I am guessing that the pain in your ribs overshadowed any abdominal pain from your inflamed appendix. Also, the pain killer which you were taking for the rib pain relieved the appendicitis pain. It is a blessing that you returned to the hospital and were promptly treated before your appendix ruptured.
