I've noticed recently that after a large meal my hear rhythm changes more than any other time. It fluctuates from around 90 bpm to 45-50bpm even though I'm sitting down. It's just done it a couple times in the last few minutes and I ate a couple hours ago and feel really full now. My heart will skip beats randomly anyway but it seems like it's happening regularly after overindulging lately and I was wondering if there's a real correlation. I tried a heart monitor a few years ago but the doc didn't tell me I needed to keep a journal while I was wearing it and said it didn't tell him anything other than at some point my heart rate had dropped to 40bpm. My resting rate seems to be around 70bpm except after I eat when it seems to go up. I also have a heart valve defect that I can hear sometimes it's so loud. I haven't heard it lately though so I'm not sure if that's why I get the slowed heart rate or what is causing it. I have normal blood pressure. When I had insurance and tried to find out what the deal was the doctors didn't seem to know, although I never saw a cardiologist, my regular doctor didn't seem to think it was that serious. It's just that the feeling is disturbing when it happens because my heart feels like it's flopping and pounding in my chest and it almost tickles.

Guide

Hi,
You need to be evaluated by a cardiologist. The symptoms which you are experiencing such as a drop in heart rate to 40 beats per minute and the skipped heart beats which indicate a cardiac arrhythmia, are serious and need the expertise of a specialist. Do you not have health insurance? Are you on Medicare?
