Hello,

I am 23 years old and since 2010 i lost 30 kgs of my weight thru exercise and healthy diet.
Now i am 63 kgs and i am satisfied with my size and weight.
My problem now is that i have too much extra skin. When i touch my thighs, stomach, arms from the upper part, breasts etc.. i feel too much flabby and sagging skin..
One month ago i started personal training and my trainer is making me lift weights to tone... My question now, is lifting weights and dumbbells exercises the only way to tone?? cz the results are really slow.....!! On the mirror i really look good and i can wear any type of clothes now but when someone touches me and see how soft i am.. i feel embarrassed. I really want my body to be stiffer and firmer...Please help me if there a quick solution for this.. Thanks.

Hello Bessa,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for seeking our advice.

Loose skin is a consequence of major weight loss. The only quick fix is cosmetic surgery. The nonsurgical way is to build muscle while maintaining a relatively low body fat percentage. This literally fills in the looseness in the skin, creating a visibly tighter, healthier look.

One of the ways to tighten skin after weight loss is to lose your weight gradually.

If your current weight training program is not enough, add weights to your workout three times a week, because building toned, lean muscle under your skin will help it look tighter.
Remember, you didn't gain the weight, and stretch your skin overnight, so it will take time to tone your body.

Calisthenics are great for building lean muscle, great for your heart, and they’re even great for tightening skin after weight loss. Add a round of calisthenics, such as jumping jacks and push ups, to your weekly routine, three or four times a week.

Another way to tighten skin after weight loss is to keep it nourished with a collagen cream, one designed specifically to cope with loose, sagging skin.

Adding in at least 8 glasses of water a day to your diet will keep your body hydrated, and help your skin tighten up.

Try yoga, which can not only reduce stress, lose weight, and can even help your skin rebound after weight loss.

Hope this helps,

Maryann
