My mother's blood pressure reading was 152/71, and 30 mins later was144/65. She is 76 years old and in fragile health. The Dr. Cut her quinipril from 40 mg to 10 mg 2 weeks prior. Is their a major health issue? I think so but they won't see her till October. They said her meds need time. Before her no was too low. HELP please?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.
Both your mother's counts are high. Ideal bp should be about 120/80 but these meds do take time to work. Diet and exercise are also important to stabilize bp. Is she able to get some exercise?
Make sure her diet is very low in salt and that it's unprocessed.

If you feel her heath issue is serious (we cannot know this) then take her to the ER - October is too far away if you think something else is going on.
Best,
Susan
