Hello,
Empower has always helped me so much. Thank you all for that. Here is my question. I am extremely obese. I'm 22 years and 8 months of age. My height is 5'7.5 and my weight is 233lb (106 kg approx). I am on my way to a weight loss journey. I am doing clean eating which i think has helped me a lot but i want to workout too. Unfortunately, because of some other problems, my doctor told me that i should not work out. like heavy exercises that include jumping and exertion. I swim but because of the cold i wont start until april. My question is that can i use gym machinery for weight loss? Do they work with clean eating? i will be doing light weights like 0.5 kg and increasing it slowly. along with that moon walker, cycle and other sorts of machinery. is it okay or will it not work on my body.

Also I have hormonal problems. I dont know much but according to my doctor it is PCOS and something else. She told me that I should loose weight and at the same time she told me how difficult it is for people with hormonal problems to loose weight. I need you to please tell me how i should do it. because with over 5 months of clean eating and a little bit walking and 2 months of swimming, i havent lost even a complete kg. just 3 inches.

Guide

Hello Ayena Ryz,

Welcome again to EmpowHER. Thank you for your kind words.

My advice to you is to follow your physician's recommendation. Continue eating a healthy well-balance diet. Work on reducing portion size and daily calorie intake. Consider working with a nutritionist. One pound equals 3,500 calories. If you want to lose 1 pound per week, you’ll need to take in about 500 to 1,000 fewer calories.

Do not engage in heavy physical activity if your doctor has warned against it. Start by taking a daily walk. Ask your physician for a recommended exercise plan. Swim when the weather gets warm or join a gym with a pool.

It takes time to lose weight and you should not expect to lose right away.

Regards,
Maryann
