Afrin works really well for me but worried about over use. Any good alternatives to Afrin that you might recommend?

Hi Anonymous,

Afrin's can sometimes cause temporary burning, stinging, dryness or runny nose, sneezing, nausea and headaches. It is not intended for long-term use.

If you're having problems with congestion and are interested in an alternative to Afrin (or you need a long-term solution)

- Natural nasal sprays: kills bacterial and fungal infections, reduces histamine, relieves inflammation (SinuSoothe is a good one)

- Saline nasal sprays

- Neti Pots (my personal favorite)

Also, things like exercise, diet and stress levels can affect nasal congestion.

Of course, you will want to consult your doctor to discuss options that are right for you.

One final option you may want to consider: acupuncture. Here is a link with more information

Let us know if any of these options works for you.
