Aggravation of pain by drinking water during pancreatitis

My mother has been diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. She has been off solid food and water for the last 2 days; subsequently there was some relief from the pain. Today she went for her CT Scan and had to consume 1 bottle of water prior to the scan. Following this she has been in total agony. Is this normal? Can consumption of water cause such high levels of pain?
I'd really appreciate yoru promt response in this regard.
Many thanks,
Abhishek

Hi Abhishek,
I'm sorry your mother is having so much pain. If she is under the care of a doctor for her pancreatitis, are they also treating her for the pain associated with the condition? Pain management often is a part of a treatment plan. Here is an example of ways to treat acute pancreatitis:

Thank you for your question, and I hope your mother is feeling better soon.
