Hi,

I am Sathiya of age 24, single. I have adult acne problem. My skin is oily skin and I am getting depressed because of adult acne. I also have scale formation in my scalp. If my adult acne got cured, scales will come, and vice versa. I have used many creams. But no solution.

I have a doubt whether I have harmones problem. I am getting regular periods. Is there any possibility to test my body harmones and get cured?
If it is harmone problem, Will yoga or exercise be the solution for that?

Please help me to get out of my depression.

Regards,
Sathiya Priya M

Hi there,
I used the C-boost and EssentiA oil after I had the surgical roll-cit done for minor acne scars. But I experienced a breakout from one of these products. In general is the c-boost safe to use on acne prone skin? I would like the benefits of a vitamin c to further help stimulate collagen.

Thanks,
Eve

Hi Sathiya

Dermatologist here.

As a few members already posted above, it is essential that you first consult a dermatologist so he or she can evaluate your skin type and then prescribe a necessary solution. However, taking your age and gender into account I'd recommend you follow these easy steps which should show visible results.

As you are a female and 24 years of age, 9/10 times adult acne is caused by a hormonal imbalance. This would also explain the excess oil secretion of your sebaceous glands.

Try the following regimen.

- Take 30mg of Zinc twice per day or 15mg of Chelated Zinc twice per day. Zinc is known for balancing ones hormones and promoting skin tissue rejuvenation.

- Take a vitamin which contains concentrated Omega 3, 6 and 9 oils. This will greatly reduce the amount of inflammation of your acne and will prevent oil build up from your sebaceous glands as the vitamin will regulate oil production.

- Use a topical skin care range that contains salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide along with essential oils such as rosemary or tea tree.

- Wash, tone and moisturize twice daily with the topical products.

- Drink between 1-2 liters of water per day if possible and avoid foods that are high in sodium, sugar and fats.

The combination of the above should help clear your acne within a month and after a period of three months, you should have perfectly clear skin.

Last tip, avoid stressing about your acne. Stress promote the imbalance in your hormones and releases chemicals from your brain that will only cause your acne to persists and increase. I know it's easier said than done but try your best.

As a dermatologist, I always recommend Environ Skin Care products to my clients as a non-abrasive and natural approach to skin care. Environ has a wonderful range called the 'Sebu Range' which will assist in fighting and clearing your acne and when taken with products from the 'Intensive Range' such as the EssentiA Forte, or C-boost products, you really can expect wonderful results.

Hope this has helped you.

If any one requires any further assistance with any form of problem skin feel free to post below and I will give you my e-mail address.

Best of luck.

Have you consulted a dermatologist? The WebMD Acne Health Center suggests that treatment depends upon the type of (adult) acne you have.

Your dermatologist might even be able to help you analyze your diet, to see if there are any triggers in the foods you consume.

There are so many different products available over the counter; but, it can get expensive trying them out. I do suggest checking with a dermatologist.

Help this helps.
