I recently posted here about starting a new brand of birth control pills (called Femiane) after having to switch my my brand Gynera, which was discontinued.
I’m on my first pack of Femiane, and it’ll finish this week. I was rushing yesterday morning to leave the house and I went to take Sunday's pill (yesterday) and I saw that I hadn’t taken the pill from day before (Saturday). So I quickly popped two. But then I thought back and remembered that I HAD taken yesterday’s pill. So I checked the blister pack and it seems that I took the pill for NEXT Saturday yesterday by accident. Next Saturday's pill is the last one in the pack. The pill pack design is completely opposite from my other one and is confusing sometimes to figure out the directions. So now I’ve taken two pills in one day that wasn’t necessary. That means my pill pack will end a day earlier (this upcoming Friday).
I read the instructions but there’s nothing for a situation like this. What’s worrying me is that I had sex with my boyfriend this past Monday (we used condoms) so I’m scared this could possibly affect my protection. I went online and it seems like I should skip the placebo week and go straight into another pack as they say that you need a full 21 days of pills in order to be properly protected.
What does this mean? Will my withdrawal bleeding start a day earlier then? Like I said this is my first time on this brand and I’m not sure what to expect exactly. Should I go straight into the other pack?

Hello cb93
If you used a condom, there's no risk of pregnancy so there is nothing to worry about. Generally when something like this happens, you keep going as you are, start your new pill packet a day early and carry on as usual. If you have sex before this and you're nervous, just use a condom for a couple of weeks, it's not as complicated as you think!

hi Susan, thanks for replying.
April 4, 2018 - 7:53amI'm still worried about the fact that I switched brands, and that maybe my body is still adjusting to the new one. However do you think it's safe to still have the placebo/period week? and not go straight into the new pack?

Hello again
As long as the active ingredients are the same, you only switched brands, not anything else. There should be no real adjustments.
It's really up to you what to do - your placebo week should be fine OR you can skip it - it's up to you and your comfort level. Protection-wise, it shouldn't make a difference.
