37 and missed period

I will be 37 in 6 weeks. my cycle is 27 days and im currently on day 34. my cycle is clockwork, i keep track of it on a menstruation app. I am not looking to be pregnant. Pregnancy tests are negative, i have taken two with the most recent one being this morning on day 34 of my cycle. My eyes have been feeling heavy like i should go to sleep but my body isnt tired if that makes any sense. occassionally i will get this feeling in my lower abdomen that maybe my period is coming but it never does. I have had bloodwork done about 6 months ago and all was normal. If i dont get my period by week 2 of it being late i will see my doctor. But im pretty shaky over this situation. I am not under any stress, i have not gained or lost weight, im not doing any exercise that would alter this, my thyroid is normal... i just dont know where i fit in and that terrifies me. Does anyone have any common knowledge or insight that may brighten my spirits? anyone have a version of the rain dance but for periods??

Hello, Anon! Thank you for writing.

Our hormones dictate our periods and when something impacts this delicate balance, it can result in an early, late, or even a missed period. Even a slight change in body chemistry can cause this, among other things.  It's not unusual to have an off period, occasionally, even for those with very predictable cycles. See your doctor - if only to ease your mind - if your period does not show going into week 3.
