I had a biopsy and the doctor seemed baffled that the first material was a flaky almost dead like material and once he was through that it was liquid they initially said it was a solid mass what is the difference?

Hello Anon
Thank you for writing.
I cannot interpret exactly what your doctor meant but he may have meant that rather than a solid mass (tumor) he found a cyst, which is another "mass" but it liquid filled, rather than solid. Kidney cysts are generally harmless but have this confirmed by your doctor.
