I agree with Alysia, that it is best to see your doctor. With any new prescription, it is important to let your prescribing doctor of side effects (like heavy bleeding) so that they can correct the dosage or prescribe another type of medication.

The good news is that there are many, many types of birth control pills (and other types of contraception as well), so that "one-size-does-not-fit-all" is true when it comes to birth control...you may need to try a couple of different pills (I assume you are taking the pill?) before you find one that is right for you.
