Hi, Tina!

Of any of the critical behaviors for transformation, I think commitment has to be near the top of the list. It's more important than exercise or nutrition, because in order for those things to produce results for you, they have to be maintained for the long term. You know how crazy life can get - and for many women, when the activity level at home or at work rises, the workout is the first thing to go.

I determined several years ago that the only way I could really be committed to my workout without feeling like I was neglecting my other responsibilities was to go to the gym before anyone else was even awake - while my boss was still sleeping, while my clients were still sleeping, while my husband and kids were still sleeping. (When my kids were babies, my "gym" was a step and a small collection of videos in my family room.)

To this day, my alarm goes off at 4:15 and I am at the gym before 5:00 every morning. Is it hard to do? Sure it is. Has this allowed me to remain committed? You bet. Being committed is more than making a promise; it's backing up the promise by anticipating the barriers and then removing them BEFORE they get in your way.

That's not to say that a 5:00 am workout is right for everyone. It's just to say that if you want to change, you have to commit to success - whatever that may mean for you.

I'll continue to post more tips here. There are so many to share - some are about exercise and nutrition, but some of the most powerful ones are about personal character.

BTW - tell us more about mixed martial arts!

In strength,
Julie
