It can be VERY depressing. I cannot wear anything any higher than a one inch heel. My fusion was done in 1998. I get really down cause I am so limited to activities that I can do. My family always played sports together so running, walking, hiking, climbing etc...... is out for me. I know you can relate to all of this. It is so much of a challange. So when I got my shoes last month at least I can walk better without so much pain because my foot never completely fused together. I promise I will look and research shoes that are a little higher heel for you. Us ankel fusion ladies have to stick together.
