Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

There are many reasons for sleep and anxiety including stress, illness, medications and the like. But hormone imbalances could also be the cause. People can acquire a hormone imbalance for many reasons - postpartum health issues, puberty, perimenopause and menopause, poor nutrition, mental health issues, thyroid imbalances...there are many reasons.

The most common symptoms of hormone imbalance in women include:

Hot flashes or night sweats
Weight gain or loss
Trouble sleeping
Lowered sex drive
Fatigue
Memory loss
Vaginal dryness

These can all, in turn, cause anxiety and depression. For both men and women, it is important to rule out potentially disease-related causes for symptoms classically associated with a hormone imbalance.

Don't try to self diagnose! You should talk to your primary doctor or gynecologist to start. He/she can run some blood tests to see where your hormone count stands. A general checkup is likely warranted too. Keep us posted!

Best,
Susan
