It's important that you see your doctor as it's impossible to know what it is without examining it. Especially, if you have not injured your head. A few possibilities for what could cause a non-traumatic bump on your head might be:
- a cyst, which is a fluid-filled sac under the skin. These are usually benign but can become infected.
- a lipoma, which is a benign fatty tumor that can occur anywhere on the skin.
- though rarer, skull based lesions, such as aneurysmal bone cysts.
Again, these are only a few possible causes. It's very important that you see your doctor for a proper diagnosis. If you feel it cannot wait, go to the ER.
