HERWriter Guide

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

You had a total hysterectomy which, at 32, puts you immediately into menopause.

It is very common for women to experience short term memory loss after a full hysterectomy. In fact, the founder and CEO of EmpowHER had the same thing happen to her.

The hormone imbalance that resulted from her hysterectomy was the core issue that caused her memory loss. Since so many hormones are taken away, it's not surprising that your brain is in a bit of a fog.

Surgical menopause (as in your case) can make memory loss more increased than natural menopause.

Check any medications to see if they can be contributing to memory loss.

Yoga can help a lot with mindfulness and concentration. Exercise (and yoga is also a very good exercise) can also help. Getting as much sleep as you can, along with a healthy diet is a good idea for anyone but especially for someone who is going through such sudden changes in the body.

Your doctor can help you more.

We wish you the best,
Susan
