It does sound like your boyfriend has an infection but not necessarily from pinworms - those symptoms are generally anal discomfort. He must get treatment for whatever is going on and abstain from sex until his doctor gives him the all-clear.
Make sure your little boy washes his hands with soap and water every time he uses the bathroom and whomever is infected with pinworms in the family should be treated at the same time.
