We're sorry to learn you are being treated for lymphoma, a cancer of the blood. The determination of what type of treatment will work best is typically made by a physician. For blood cancers the physician is usually a hematologist who specializes in blood disorders who is also an oncologist who specializes in treating cancers. The decisions on the types of treatment, and their duration, are based on clinical trials in which the treatments were used on other patients, with the results carefully measured and studied. Clinical trials show whether or not a treatment works and the best dosages for success. If you are uncomfortable with your treatment plan then feel free to discuss your concerns with your physician, or, if you have one, your nurse navigator. If you have financial concerns and are trying to reduce your costs then ask if your medical practice or hospital has a social worker or financial counselor who can help you. We hope your treatment is successful and you will soon be in remission. Take care, Pat
