 Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is a problem with getting blood to go back to the heart from the legs. It causes swelling (edema) of the legs. Problems with the leg veins, with valves, or with muscles can keep the blood from moving as it should. This can lead to pooling of blood, called stasis, in the veins. The goals of treatment are to reduce the pooling of blood and prevent sores.  Your doctor will discuss treatment options with you.
