Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver.

It is contagious and is passed on through sex, body fluids and shared needles. To prevent Hep B, never share bodily fluids with an unknown or untrustworthy person and never share needles with anyone. Gloves during health care routines should always be used. There is a Hep B vaccination.

Most cases actually clear up on their own but for those that don't, they can have severe liver damage. Medications can help with this. There is currently no cure but research for a cure is ongoing.
