Cold therapy can be applied for 10 to 15 minutes every hour initially reducing the frequency as pain and swelling go down. Do not apply ice directly to the skin as it can cause ice burns. It may be advised to use a compression bandage, calf support or sleeve if needed. Check with your doctor for further information.
