I think the 'Sundance' winning film 'The Freebie' kind of says it all. if you are considering open relationship watch this first. It really gets into the emotional dynamics, from the curiosity of a couple right down to the fallout, and it's quite sad. I have known of people in open relationships, including a couple who were swingers and their marriage lasted under a year. If you are a traditional person stay away. You will only get hurt. If you are a free spirit who likes to experiment and sleep with multiple partners go have your fun or join a commune, but don't risk giving your partner STD's and your baggage. I think swinging and open relationship is just one more example of people in a society that are way too over focused on sex, can't get enough of anything, are way too overstimulated like toddlers who need a good nap, and use self deprecation as a general way of not going deeper into them selves. Everything is superficial, down to who you sleep with. '50 Shades of Grey' is a perfect example of this. Just loving isn't enough, now we have to promote hurting one another to get off. If you want to swing honey, go find a tree, or stay 'single'.
