You can take a deep breath. Everything you are describing is normal. Your period usually begins brown because the oldest blood is discharged first, then as your period progresses is changes color because the blood becomes more "fresh" for lack of a better word.
The emergency contraceptive and birth control give the body hormones that prevent pregnancy and those hormones in turn regulate your period. What you are experiencing is a normal progression of a light period. There is nothing to worry about.
