Whether or not exercising, or other activities, would be harmful to you prior to surgery really depends on your personal health history, and this is a question you should ask your own doctor. In most cases there aren't any restrictions, but for some types of cysts there is a risk of rupture and patients need to be more cautious.
Also, be aware that after the surgery patients are generally advised to restrict their activities, such as lifting heavy items or strenuous exercise, for two weeks after laparoscopic surgery and six weeks following an open surgery.
