Hi Jenny!

Thank you for sharing your question about moisturizer with the EmpowHER community! Choosing a moisturizer is important and a lot of it is based on personal preference. Some may feel sticky or too thick or too thin. Some might even make you break out or form a rash...you see where I am going...A lot if it is based on trial and error.

If I were to tell you what kind of moisturizer to purchase, I would highly recommend an all natural, certified organic lotion or cream. I often go to my health food store and test out what's on the shelves and I always check for a certified organic seal of approval. I typically stay away from grocery store brands, unless in a pinch.

Jenny, I can tell you what to AVOID in a moisturizer. Be sure to read labels and steer clear of products that contain one or more of the following ingredients:

Parabens.

Synthetic colors.

Fragrance.

Phthalates. Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) / Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES).

Propylene glycol.

Mineral Oil.

Also, here are some great tips from the EmpowHER community about moisturizing!

Moisturize Inside And Out
Eight glasses of water a day is preferable to keep your skin hydrated, especially on hot days. However, your moisturizing regimen should be altered when it comes to applying lotion. Although you are moisturizing your skin from the inside with ample water intake, moisturizing the skin's surface when it is dry is not incredibly effective. Instead, allow some moisture from your shower to remain on your body as you work lotion into your skin. The lotion temporarily traps some water molecules on the skin, effectively moisturizing the cells more thoroughly. I thought these were some great tips...would you agree Jenny?

Let me know if this helped you and if you find the perfect tube of lotion this Fall!

Best,

Kristin
