Guide

Hello Kelly,

Pink eye or conjunctivitis is an inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva, which is the transparent membrane that line your eyelid and covers the white part of your eyeball. It is commonly caused by a bacterial or viral infection, or an allergic reaction.

Pink eye can be highly contagious for as long as two weeks after signs and symptoms begin. Early diagnosis and starting treatment can decrease the risk of spreading it to other people.

Practice good hygiene can control the spread of pink eye.
Wash your hands often.
Use a clean towel and washcloth daily.
Throw away your eye cosmetics, such as mascara, every six months.
