Guide

Hello Anonymous,

I would like to welcome you to the EmpowHER community and thank you for reaching out to us to help you with your health question.

I am assuming that you have been diagnosed with autoimmune hemolytic anemia. Are you under the care of a hematologist?

As you may know, with autoimmune hemolytic anemia, the immune system recognizes red blood cells as foreign and attacks them. One would think that including more iron rich foods to the diet would help counteract anemia. But, I don't know. I would be concerned about a build up of iron secondary to red cell destruction.

Your physician is your best resource. Talk with your hematologist about what you should be eating.
Regards,
Maryann
