Hi, I had a similar problem, developing in my mid-20s or so, coming and going, sometimes more intense than others. I, too, was often told that it was just a heat rash or contact dermatitis (unlike the link to the chilblains article above, my rash was midly to severely itchy, never painful). A few months ago I was urged to eliminate wheat from my diet and the rashes have disappeared (after 20yrs or so, I'm now 44). I do not have celiac's disease, just a wheat allergy of sorts that appears to have caused the allergies. I do still occassionally partake of a homemade brownie, and the rash will reappear by the next morning.
