"Nodules are small masses of tissue, often quite hard, that grow in many areas of the body. They can happen through accident or injury - the tissue groups and hardens as a response to physical trauma.
Most nodules are harmless and are left as they are, if they are not causing discomfort. However, some are malignant (and thus probably not caused by an injury) and need to be removed pretty quickly with further action needed (cancer treatments). Your doctors are doing what they are doing in order to rule out a malignancy.
Take comfort in knowing that most nodules are harmless but since a small portion are not, your doctors are doing the right thing."
The larger majority of those diagnosed with gastric cancer is men over the age of 40 in Japan--the condition is considered rare in the US.
When will you receive your biopsy results? Did the doctor give you any indication of what they think you are dealing with? Is the doctor more concerned about the nodule, ulcers, or both?
