One small benign polyp is no big deal and is very unlikely to lead to cancer. A large percentage of people 50 years of age have one or a few of them...and for a man that age there is still only a 0.7% chance of developing colon cancer in the next 10 years (according to the CDC) and less than 2% chance of getting it in 20. There is too much hype about this disease and all of this screening is nothing more than another profit center for medical practices.
