Hi Lovelucy

Bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis are two different infections. They do not cause each other, although it is not uncommon to have BV along with an STD. Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted disease/infection. If your boyfriend has it and you do not, you are not really jumping to a conclusion. He picked it up somewhere. According to the CDC, "Symptoms usually appear in women within 5 to 28 days of exposure."

I recommend you be tested for a range of STDs if you haven't already, just to be safe. The repercussions of untreated sexual infections in women are far worse than they are for men.

I have some links for you to check out that may help you understand these infections better: http://www.cdc.gov/std/bv/STDFact-Bacterial-Vaginosis.htm, http://www.cdc.gov/std/trichomonas/STDFact-Trichomoniasis.htm, https://www.empowher.com/condition/bacterial-vaginosis, https://www.empowher.com/trichomoniasis/content/how-tell-if-you-have-most-common-std.

Please consider using condoms to prevent contracting any further infections. Some of them cannot be cured, and it just isn't worth the cost. Take care and thank you for writing.
