Hi Anon,

Thanks for your question and welcome.

Goserelin is a synthetic hormone similar to the one normally released from the hypothalamus gland in the brain. It is used to treat breast cancer in addition to other conditions.

When given regularly as an implant, it decreases the amount of estrogen and testosterone in the blood. Reducing estrogen is a way of treating breast cancer. Your cancer is likely estrogen receptor positive and decreasing estrogen can slow the growth of your cancer.

Common side effects include:
hot flashes
decreased sexual desire
weight gain
swelling and tenderness of the breasts
headaches
bone pain

Notify your doctor if you have any of these symptoms severely and they do not go away:
nausea
vomiting
vaginal dryness
emotionality
increased amount of body hair
lethargy

Call your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms:
chest pain
difficulty breathing
fever
chills
rapid heartbeat
painful urination

take care and good luck.
