I found this site a few days before my procedure and I have to say it made me very nervous. I had a lot more questions for my doctor that the pamphlet didn't cover before they started. I was given a Torodol (sp?) shot in the arm like many mention here. I asked about a cervical block and my doc said it wouldn't help which I don't understand. Dilating your cervix enough to get the probe in is just like labor and the cramping was pretty severe. I had a tilted uterus which is worst case scenario, others on this forum mentioned perforated uterus and bowel when ablation was done. I asked my doc about this and she said her nurse watches the procedure on sonogram / ultra sound the whole time so both can see exactly where she is and that she doesn't perforate. She said anyone doing the procedure blindly without this assistance would increase risk substantially so if you are having this - make sure to ask your provider if they watch the procedure on ultra sound while they do it. I had six minutes on one side and 4.5 on the other. It was very painful and I cried most of the time. The ultrasound probe was pushing down right on my c-section scar tissue which made it painful externally and internally. When I was done the cramping was very bad. I sat in a room with a heating pad trying to function enough to get home but it took some time. I was given ibuprofen for the pain and it did nothing. I got a percoset script for home. Ny doctor asked if I would have preferred being "out" for the ablation and I said absolutely! I had a d&c to try to stop the bleeding a year before trying this and they put you under for that. Complete mystery why that option wasn't offered. If she had asked ahead of time and been honest about procedure cramping being similar to labor I would never have even thought of trying in office. Went home and got my heating pad and climbed into bed, it felt a lot like after labor cramping wise for a good 6-8 hours after. I had minimal bleeding and now just the watery discharge. Mostly when you stand up after lying or sitting. I got deodorant pads to avoid any smell but so far it hasn't been an issue. Had procedure done Thursday and I could get around - slowly - on Friday but did too much like most Moms will. Saturday same and now I'm hugging my heating pad again trying to take it easy. I definitely feel bloated which seems like it is the water that takes time to release. Going to the gym seems like a bad idea for high impact but may try something low impact Monday. I was initially on the fence about procedure because it makes pregnancy high risk but my doc said she has had many patients become pregnant afterwards. Not planning more but it made me feel better to know it wasn't impossible after this. I would try anything (besides going on pill) to stop heavy bleeding / clots but I wasn't ready for a hysterectomy. I will post again after some time to see if this does help reduce bleeding. Good luck to any out there thinking about this or already scheduled!
