What a fascinating article! It's very helpful to know that burning incense results in exposure to some of the same carcinogens found in cigarette smoke, such as polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), carbonyls and benzene.
I've found incense is a lung irritant, but had never associated it with these factors. Thanks so much for this information and the tip on making sure to have good ventilation while burning incense to reduce potential lung damage.
